the irony of the sugar shark
i took one bite that -
i bit my tongue hard.
with awareness spiking when
a shark's fin rises above water.
oh no, not now but -
a drowsiness overcame.
all that fear let loose into
a water brimming with teeth.
two forces rattled within -
the knight in rotting armor
whose sword is riddled with rust
when it has become quite apparent.
sleepy lazy stretching out in
a yoga pose: i could do this all
that. till the sun circles back
and that yawn finally closes.
as for fiery darts, iron maiden with
vampire eyes. they don't scare,
not with some holy water whose
blessing was flung to the gutter.
the words that resonate, they sound
familiar because they are. they
repeat like a mantra when sugar
always melts into the mouth.
feeling drowsy yet? yeah, i bet.
with a mirror of faces being
reflected back when a face is cast
off into the deep end.
bloody hell. then the opium like induced
state does a oopsy daisy. never mind the
jaws that lock unto the heart gone numb.
it's not happening again.
with cheerless laughter, a mirthless eye
gazes into a sinister spirit whose
echo vibrates with each struggle -
no need to. no need at all.
when flailing arms grasps at nothing,
save a fin whose purpose isn't
to simmer in a soup. it's the other way around,
it's always been when sharks come as sugar.
