the catch

January 27, 2026 · Stage

straightforward, simple, black and white, no risk, nothing to dislike about, socially approved, easy tasks, work life balance, does not require intelligence, average does it, not strenuous, not physically taxing, feels good, dopamine adjusted for optimality, you're first, cheered even when you suck, everyone has to like you, kudos, with high rewards, exponential pay, excellent health benefits, fulfillment, satisfaction to mind, body and soul, so what else would you like? it's not fair you say, like an ala carte menu to pick and choose, have the hawaii beach, the skyscrapers of new york, the low crime of small towns, let's throw in amusement parks as well to appease this want - at least on paper because it is never going to get approved by the higher ups, the unseen, the fates, the mystics, airy fairy ideas that go puff: a chain of events swell up, it's been accumulating for decades, a mind bending miracle though nothing was ever said of body walking through fire, a person has secrets you know for life isn't always simple, fun, cheery, or fair. with the sea saw going up on one end, down the other, and kids they laugh, cry, cheer either way but not us adult, for this is when we actually see, hear, feel, sense, touch the ugly, the lovable, the lustful, the seductive, the bare truth, like bones coming out of flesh, unable to stay inside the confines of a prison - the witness steps forth, coming off stage to join the audiences, so this is how it looks from the other perspective! he's got the bones for it, a knack, suave, acrobatic even as audience and actors blur into one canvas. who's watching who now? lovable, disgusting, hilarious, and a heart stamping on paper, off track, derailed, makes an adjustment, papers burn, scorching hot. rules, unspoken rules, spoken ones, did i just say the last one aloud? some worship the skin, some worship the flesh, some worship the bones, some worship the heart, some worship the soul. then the invisible became visible, the visible invisible for skin, flesh, bones, heart and soul dance in this eternal canvas as they gently blur into one.
