the mask, the face and the mirror
a slide becomes a fall,
but not the great fall, just
a rabbit hill bump. hiccup
away that stump growing
behind, like roots seeking earth
deep. and earth is hard, unrepentful
when the sun beckon, she must
obey to that life long dance
though she too would like to
be center stage. not this time,
then earth goes off course, into
space, dizzy silly space with empty
lines carved into a dancer's feet
making contact on a ballroom floor.
she is pristine, holds her head haughty
like because the audience is holding
their breath as she makes a fast dash
towards a burning circle from a magician's
breath. gets caught in the middle, one side
protruding out while her middle is in between
fiery flames tickling away and she is trying
to stifle a giggle when the breath is sucked in,
a magician falters when stardust no longer
answered to words of power. they settled
idly on the rug while his animated hands
casts at a circle no longer hot. then the dancer
breaks free from inertia strong. falls on
the other side of the world, where
amazing knights treat her wounds. i am no lilith
she says, with tears welling up when
armors are shed, duties forsaken for
here a damsel surely does need help.
whence forth did you come? but
her head shakes slowly for she no longer
remembers. a forgotten brick sits right
by her, within it trapped inside is her name
though she knows it not. then the gentleman
tended to her illness, for white as marble
she was, ashen even as time hummed away.
a kingdom got taken that night when
fine knight did not show up, still the maiden
knew not what was sacrificed, with each day
growing longer till stardust began to glow
around the air when sacrifice was made. bump,
thud, ouch as a gentleman is roused from
slumber, to awaken with roses red towering
taller than the sky. a dancer remembers her moves,
tilts on her ankles, playfully pirouettes on petals
covering a sea of red. then sinks into oblivion
with a startled sigh, a twin image emerges forth
and such was the speed that the eyes saw not
changes made. how sweet your dance, the restful
man lay calm in his wonderings while lilith
did rouse and spice. dancing away till the now old
magician called from the other side: come back,
i think i got the spell right. then lilith did circle back
to flames igniting once again, while her dress got
caught by fire, since it was holy flame. amused, delighted
she pranced around a befuddled spell caster who knew
not what to do with an immortal. but at least the
enchantment sputtered out with red swirls bringing
back the real. human form. louder, higher, more fevered
pitches when the swine ran down hill, past fortified
gates and rammed into lilith who dissipates with a shriek
for pigs are something she really could not tolerate. what
foul beasts. then the red leached out of circle bringing
back an old friend who got caught halfway again, tickled
and giggling she made a face to a breath of hot
air: you never believe what i saw on the other side! and
then the knight who no longer needed knighthood
stepped forth too - having found roses a lot better. blank
face magical being with waxed body dripping, can't
really handle demons, he sputters. notices his stardust
have left with lilith whose face sometimes appears
in petals overflowing: and her face was just like the dancer,
the knight and the magician.
