dreams, dreams i dream
of you, of paradise, utopia
though it looks unlike what you
see in your mind
when dreams mean a definition
or words, words can be tricky
in a court of law,
of enforcement
and the juries they are strangers,
the judge is impassive
i must not squabble with
when disobedience is seen as anarchy
it must be bad.
bad, good
words like a slippery eel
slips past memories
i can no longer hold on to
because our memories say different
contrasting tales, who is right
i do not know.
i want, you want, a tale from your lips
i took as god send,
didn't you tell me
you are his messenger
but i was young and naive
too weak, to know the difference.
you held all the cards,
it was not bravery when it would happen
as you predicted
i knew not the opposites of dreams and nightmares
for i was that canvas
you painted upon,
what you wanted, dreams, dreams, yours
not mine.
i just never knew it,
thus i agreed, followed, worshiped
the grounds you stepped upon,
i never once begrudged
it was not like you knew what you did.
i forgave, did i?
you asked.
tears, regret, dreams, nightmares
all coiled into one fist
as i slammed into a glass ceiling
refusing to break,
god help me
and went to the other god
when the god you worshiped
budged not,
gave no grudge, neither did you
same shadow
i now feel like i am beginning to know
who you are
just that i can never say
it would be damnation, treachery
you got them all
those puppets
nodding to your will
i once once your puppet
i too behaved. how could i refuse?
you had taken my heart, my mind
i knew not
then ... ... slips comes about,
how sour
how sweet
how bitter
i tried to twist the narration,
to fit reality even when reality fell apart,
a dream, yours not mine,
gone.
